Not just your average Alternative Pop/Adult Contemporary music. Tony V steps us back into that era of classic 1950's and early 1960's pop with a fresh new approach. His voice is reminiscent of the sound of Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Bobby Darin, Johnny Maestro and Nat King Cole yet the CD has the contemporary flare of artists like Michael Buble and Harry Conick Jr.
Tony's melodies and lyrics are infectious, simple and catchy. Together with Producer/Songwriter/Musician Lisa Ratner's lush to swinging big band like arrangements, "A New Man" combines a mix of musical styles and influences of the 40's, 50's and 60's that will get your feet tapping, fingers snapping, and hands clapping. Ratner crosses the boundaries and experiments with a fusionistic blend of jazz/blues/theatrical/pop and even some rockabilly. Anything goes on this wonderfully creative CD. You might even hear a bit of Cole Porter or Doris Day influences as well. With guest vocal appearances by Sandy Farina ( Strawberry Fields in Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band -the movie), Charlie Lagond on sax (Kid Creole and the Coconuts), Aaron "Von Cello" Minksy on acoustic guitar and strings and 12 year old prodigy Jason Bangser on electric guitar this CD sparkles with originality and charm.
For those of you, young or old who appreciate and love this genre of music you will not be disappointed by this wonderful, fun and upbeat album. You might even want to get up and dance. Yes there is even a Rhumba!
