Overview of Book
If you want to learn how to train a dog, go train a thousand dogs. If you want to learn how to train your own dog, go train somebody else’s dog.
Training techniques for dogs go well beyond anything I can document in just one book, because so much of what I teach other Wolfkeepers is instinctual and situational. Every new environment, breed, owner, circumstance, and emotion will evoke a different response from each dog. Therefore, the art of raising and training your dog is understanding and mastering something deep inside your own soul, and understanding your emotional links to your dog.
This is a book about the spiritual connection between dogs and humans. It’s impossible for any book or journal to give you the complete formula on how to train your family pet, but this is a guide and journal to getting you on your way to becoming a Wolfkeeper, a shepherd of the greatest flock ever—the domesticated canine. I promise you this book will change your life, because it will get you thinking about how deep the connection is between you and your dog. I always tell clients that when they train a dog they, too, will learn powerful lessons that they won't soon forget, and which can’t be learned from reading a book. When you put your dog in challenging situations and environments and make calculated errors, this is the furnace from which Golden Wolfkeepers ultimately emerge! If you have a dog you are not a dog owner, you are a dog trainer—a Wolfkeeper. Now is the time to form a nation of Wolfkeepers and change the world around us by training our dogs.
