I was walking in Goa, India, on a bright night with brilliant stars, feeling a bit of a lemon. To my right was a Muslim boy and to my left a Hindu girl, their mutual desire the elephant among us. We all knew their relationship was not meant to be. Into the velvety air to no one in particular but to her absolutely the boy quoted some Urdu scripture, which he translated as “…I want to get to heaven but I don’t want to die…” Cue for an album title, thought I…
Which took forever to finish, was recorded in two continents and three studios, and with the collaboration of a host of wonderful musicians, friends, acquaintances and passers by.
It was truly a labor of love, and I hope that you have as much fun listening to it as we did recording it.
To give you a bit of background, I’m a British singer originally from London and now living in San Francisco, where I gig, teach (check out my program ‘Singing From The Center Of Your Voice’, also for sale on CD baby, if you’d like to learn to sing) and run a recording studio.
I worked for many years in London gigging, performing and recording and where I also ran a successful band with fellow musician Terry Disley (successful in the Jazz field. The band toured and was recorded for TV and radio and played at all the London clubs such clubs as Ronnie Scotts etc). I also attended the Guildhall School of Music at this time and worked extensively as a session singer.
In 1990 I joined the British band the Moody Blues and toured the US with them until 1999, when I decided to move to the States.
Peace and The Best Of The Best
