ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
This CD was created to benefit the Hearts of Music Fund - a not-for-profit corporation that helps uninsured musicians. Over the course of the last ten years, many of my trombone playing friends and I have been having a big neighborhood Christmas party at which we play these arrangements. We then started doing a benefit concert each year for the Hearts of Music Fund. This CD grew out of the popularity of those events.
We hope that it becomes part of your Holiday seasonal celebrations for many years to come.

Bill Reichenbach is a trombonist and arranger/composer working in the Los Angeles recording industry.

Carols from the Bells
Okay...balanced review, from my chair here:

Some of the "slow" carols move pretty fast for my taste, and some of the "fast" carols move pretty slowly. There are a few pitch and ensemble problems in places. DO NOT LET THIS DISSUADE YOU FROM BUYING THIS ALBUM AND LISTENING TO THE WHOLE THING REPEATEDLY.

There is some unbelievable musicianship, some truly amazing trombone playing, and some *very* nice arrangements on this album. The lead trombone playing is breathtaking, but my favorite of all is the bass and contrabass trombone work. It is absolutely beautiful. I have listened to "Santa Claus is Coming to Town" about a hundred times and I am not tired of it. (-:

Get several copies and hand them out as Christmas presents. Keep one in the car and one at home. Three thumbs up.

I have had a chance to hear this fantastic disc twice. If you like the chorale-like sounds of Christmas Carols this recording WILL NOT disappoint! The jazzier tracks (#22 especially) have some fantastic bass bone licks in them. The sounds are laid out beautifully and with finesse. Mr. Reichenbach you are the man! I love your open, round tone and effortless delivery of those pedal tones.
I especially like hearing carols I haven't heard before and this disc has a few. Track #4, #8 and #13 are all new to me.
Most tracks seemed to have a "hurried" feel to them in that some tempi seem to be on the brisk side!?! I don't know if quicker tempos were a conscious decision when the recording was made but I would have enjoyed hearing some more adagio tempos than allegro/allegretto ones. Schmaltz is not everyone's cup of tea but it is a nice thing to experience when the mood is right:o)
The preludes in some of the carols is a nice twist as well. I don't want to give anything away - you'll have to listen for yourself!!
I hope you enjoy the disc as much as I do!

Carols from the Bells
This album is outstanding! The performers are superb. Any trombone/brass player will enjoy this work. The arrangements are very moving, powerful, and beautiful with some fun stuff thrown in too. It is now one of my favorite instrumental Christmas CD's. I want more!
To Mr. Bill Reichenbach and the group,
Please know that I sincerely appreciate your effort, time and talent. Thank you for a wonderful recording! This sound is tight.
I love it!

This album is fantastic! The blending sounds of this large trombone "choir" is as smooth as they come. The bass 'bones are absolutely awesome and the "We Three Kings" is exceptional. I'll be looking for more of their albums. Keep 'em coming, guys.
