Troy Thompson Bio
Troy was born Troy Eugene Thompson and is one of seven children born to Robert and Nancy Thompson. He was raised in a small town in Arkansas in the Bible belt during the 50’s and 60’s. He attended a southern Pentecostal church where he and his brothers and sisters sang with the church youth group, Troy started his singing career early in life when he won a talent show in the sixth grade and everyone said he had what it took to go places which put a desire in him that still burns today.
After graduating from high school, Troy joined the Navy and did a tour of duty for our county. After returning home he got married. His marriage didn’t last and soon started his second career in photography. Though he showed real talent at photography, he always had that love of music in him. This love of music and performing lead to many sacrifices in his personal life. Though he has worked at many professions, he has always kept coming back to his first love, music. Troy has been playing in the local night clubs and already has developed a following and a fan club.
In the music on his new debut album, due out in April of 2007, you can still hear the soulful sounds from his southern Pentecostal raising, but also at times his playful charm comes through. His music is also strongly rooted in the values he learned from his father, a hard working family man. His musical stylings have been greatly influenced by his favorite artists, such as Elvis, George Jones, Merle Haggard, Travis Tritt and George Strait. However, he has a style his own; one that really binds people together and just makes them feel good, its music for everybody! Such as his song “Middle America” and another that he wrote himself, “Second Chances”, give people hope... He is truly one of a kind!
