The musical encounter between Max Pizio and Alessandra Gelfini, was an especially fruitful one ( september 2002), and resulted in the composition of eight new original tracks, collected in the album "Alea". The album takes the listener on a voyage through contemporary-acoustic-classical scenarios, imbued with Tango & Jazz improvisations. Influenced by several artists including Skryabin, Piazzolla, and Brahms, TWO DICE craft their essentially acoustic sound into a totally original and impassioned, almost anthropocentric vision, where man is still able to change, save and help his fellow humans. The album is distributed in physical form by independent Swiss label Tetraktys Music.
Compelling in its rhythmic elements and in its ability to capture the attention of the listener, "Alea" keeps its promise, breaking the mould with a knowledgeable combination of driving polytonal, dream-like harmonies, fluid and vastly expressive sounds, futurist and exotic atmospheres, with psychedelic contemperary overtones which act as a bridge towards a non-space, non-time locus amoenus!
The common trait linking the eight tracks (four songs and four suites), lies in many ways in the desire to surprise and transcend the rules of sound, yet never to such an excess as to precipitate the music into a vortex of gratuitous virtuosity. And this is proof of the skill of the artists, who manage to include in their compositions background drones and distant noises as if they were notes written on a staff.
A standout, highly evocative track is the one that closes the album, "Barb Wire" with an evocative "Piazzolla Style" with an invocation to the counterpoint of Bach and the lyricism of "Tango Viejo".
