Bart Schuijt and Irina Rizaeva met in Dublin on August 2012 at a jam session organized by Dublin Music Makers community. The idea of combining a classical pianist / indie-song writer with a reggae / funk trumpet player into one project made them both laugh. This laughter became the basis for the duet now called Unpronounceable Surnames. The project name arose quite naturally from the fact that all the other musicians felt uncomfortable every time they had to read Irina and Bart's surnames.
The album 'Happiness in its Denial Phase' is the first album by Unpronounceable Surnames. Almost all the songs are written by Irina with Bart's great participation, apart from Reload which belongs to a Moscow musician Sanchir Badakov. Most of the songs are written within the time frame of September 2012 to November 2013. The lyrics are based on the conversations Irina and Bart had during the time. The music creation process cannot be explained.
The duet was very lucky to work with a great sound producer Igor Kalitventsev, whose surname is just as perfectly unpronounceable as his perfect sound producing skills.
Although all three of them did this work because they just wanted to have some high quality fun for themselves, they have a slight hope that you'll find this music worthy of your attention and enjoyment.
