Urania Guild

by Urania Guild

Guitar swagger and bombast with the depth of dub. Synth driven space rock with hard and heavy drums punctuated by jarring edit breaks. The lyrics weave layers of interpretation into the raucous, soaring guitars and grinding, snarling synths.

Ryan Nagle - Guitar and vocals
Trip Irish - Drums
Austin Moss - Programming and vocals

Ryan and Austin met at a music store in Indiana. After having found a mutual interest in skateboarding, snowboarding and heavy, guitar-driven electronic music they … after bumping into one another enough times they decided they need to jam. An opportunity at a monthly techno night gave them a deadline and incentive to put some momentum behind the music.

Trip had been playing drums with Ryan and Austin separately for years. His heavier style laid down an impact for the tracks emphasizing the punches of the one and syncopations. The lighter ghost notes and cymbals always lead to backbeat dominance.

Sampled drum sets and hyper-edited, manipulated loops in realtime set behind savage synths and visceral bass. A stage of delays and distortion feed into a Marshall half stack of disdain.

Recorded and mixed at The End, Satori Studios and the Secret Garden. Mastered at the Secret Garden. Cover art by Trip Irish.
