VALENTIGER pulls together another enthralling and dynamic track, taking you from intimate singer/songwriter to full-on rock n' roll in just 4 minutes. Written for the feature film, "Finding Home," Shirey takes a project-specific approach to songwriting while keeping his roots in producing music-from-the-gut. Exposed vocals and acoustic guitar drive the track, while the band fleshes out with rhythmic precision. Ambient texture adds an anxious feeling through a building presence, setting up the rewarding cadence.
VALENTIGER is a three piece band, hailing from Grand Rapids, MI. Singer/songwriter, Brent Shirey's affinity for classic and ageless tunes brings music that leans on time-tested melodies of the 60s, while also drawing from contemporary ideals and experiences. The energy of both old and new provides for albums rich in texture and warmth, and a live show that moves effortlessly from airy rock and roll to harmony rich folk-rock to subdued alt-country. All, of course, achieved with additional members Bill Kahler (bass) and Scott Rider (drums).
The band has earned their reputation as a seasoned touring act, their songs to the road through numerous independently booked and financed tours spanning the entire Eastern United States and Canada. Highlights of the travels include the famed CBGB's, Knitting Factory, Sin e' and Boston's Middle East Club among many others. This decidedly grass-roots style of promotion and distribution has helped to define a dedication to Shirey's overt style of songwriting.
