Wow
I love Jack Shit and see Val perform whenever I can. I was googling him last night and found a youtube of him doing Tokyo Girl live. After learning about him losing his mother and brother within 6 months of eachother coupled with the "tears washing me like holy rain" verse, I've been in tears all morning.

"At The End of the Day"

So very unexpected...
Just a lovely surprise for the holidays--Val has created a lovely album of finely-crafted gems, songs that are fragile, right from the heart, sung with delicacy and warmth. Big surprise--his incredible musical chops are gently put aside, and although the tunes resonate with quirky melodic hooks and intelligence ....the songs are the center here. Val's experience as sideman to the stars notwithstanding (he is a central portion of Jackson Browne's recent successful tour), this is a lasting and terrific solowork by n important artist. Enjoy!

End of the Day-
I saw Val McCallum when he came through Indianapolis as Jackson Browne's guitarist. He sang "Tokyo Girl" and it was so lovely and moving. I was excited to find out that he had CD's of "End of the Day"there and since that purchase, I think I've played it every day. It's sweet, sad, loving, melancholy, brave, raw, and open-and that's just the lyrics. The music is soulful and takes you into each song's story, the singing is hypnotizing. I'm glad for me that he made this CD, I hope more people get the opportunity to experience it and his mastery of the guitar. BUY IT FOLKS!!!
