Valtierra Latin Orchestra (VLO)
Ruben Valtierra, originally from San Rafael, California, began classical studies at the age of ten.
Soon after, he was a member of the award-winning Cabrillo College Big Band in Aptos,Ca.
After having led the popular jazz/ funk fusion group Rush Hour in Santa Cruz, Ca in the 80's, he moved to Los Angeles where soon after arriving,he was sharing the stage, recording and traveling the world with groups and their members such as Santana, Aretha Franklin, Deep Purple, Tom Jones, Natalie Cole, Tower of Power, Chick Corea, Elton John, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Rock/Comedy legend, "Weird Al" Yankovic.
When not touring, Rubén is very active in the studio, writing and producing, along with leading the popular VLO, featuring members of the world’s greatest latin jazz groups.
