This album Rocks!
I first Koko's Hideaway when I was living in Austin, Texas, and while this is definitely Texas Rock and Roll, it just simply Rocks in any territory! You gotta love Van's singing, his guitar tone, his songs, and his incredibly tasteful playing.

Lightnin' Stubblefield

Guitar pyrotechnics with taste!
Just bought this CD, having heard Van Wilks compared to Eddie Van Halen and Jimi Hendrix. I'll add Stevie Ray Vaughn to that. Wilks equals and surpasses them all in terms of hot guitar licks, and he does it with more taste and sensitivity.

Ross Chambers

A brilliant blues guitarist who can actually sing!
Koko's Hideaway is a stunning showcase of Van Wilks electric and slide guitar playing. Sort of what would happen if Johnny Winter got hold of ZZ Top's playlist. What makes Van Wilks exceptional however is his singing - the best I've heard from a blues guitarist. No point in suggesting stand-out tracks - they're all brilliant!
