ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Personal favorites of the ensemble Jazayer, from the classical and urban music of the Middle East, especially arranged and recorded live (no overdubbing, for a truly superior sound). Includes two original pieces by Dr. Ali Jihad Racy and is the debut of his Longa Nahawand. Mimi Spencer, qanun; Vince Delgado, riqq and bendir; Devi-ja Delgado Croll, Arabic violin, Tom Shader, acoustic bass; and guest Coralie Russo, oud, on three pieces.

Marvelous group virtuosity, but what stands out is the sheer beauty of the music
The cuts on Remembrances are both dizzingly difficult to play and tremendously enjoyable to hear. You can marvel at the groups virtuosity, but what stands out overall is the sheer beauty of the music.
The all- American stalwarts of Arabic, Turkish and Armenian music are back with a disc that celebrates 25 years of performing together.
