ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Very Most is an indie-pop band from Boise, Idaho. It's quite possible they're the only indie-pop band from Boise, Idaho. Like almost every band, they exist both live and on record. But for the Very Most, the process of recording happens over years, as Jeremy, with an assembled cast of talented friends, carefully constructs layers upon layers of guitar, bass, drums, strings, percussion, woodwinds, synths, vocals and sound effects in a backyard studio. Their music is dense, catchy, and has a decidedly un-hip, yet slightly off-kilter, lyrical viewpoint. It’s kind of a like being the only adult at a little kids’ dance party where you get to choose the music, but the kids make you spin them around until everyone’s really dizzy. Influences include Beach Boys, Built to Spill, Smiths, and Belle and Sebastian.

Congratulations Forever is the second record by The Very Most, and expands greatly on the previous album, Making the Case For Me. It has beautifully designed and printed album artwork designed and illustrated by Julia Green.

The Very Most - Congratulations Forever
This album is uplifting and great to listen to on a summer day as you drive around town. The melodies make the world around you slip away. This is an album that you will never get tired of listening to.

Craftsmanship and Imagination
Every single song on this album shows a level of craftsmanship absent in 95% of contemporary recordings, and this holds across the spectrum: the production values, arrangements, musicians, vocals, and songwriting. There is not a single weak number on the album. The album also shows great musical imagination and creativity - that in my opinion far surpass the Beach Boys! Filled with beautiful, melodic songs (often in stark contrast to the lyrics, as in Sod Off). I put this album on whenever I need an emotional lift - it is a wry trip, pleasant to the intricate vocal layerings of the closing number Congratulations Forever.

Beautiful piece of work. If you like quality music - regardless of genre - you should give this a try.
