This album contains my music recordings during the year 2010. They have been created on a single PC with realistic orchestras sound samples.
Dvorak's Symphony No.9 "From the New World" has been one of my favorite music pieces for a long time. When I began to use my computer to create MIDI recordings in 1993, the 2nd movement (Largo) of this symphony was among the first renditions. When my grandmother died in May 2010 at age 91, I created this new rendition in her honour and memory, as this piece was her favorite music too (everytime when I visited her, she asked me to play my interpretation of it on the piano).
Janacek's string quartet #2 "Intimate Letters" is a wonderful expressive and emotional work, using the string instruments often in new ways. I tried to experiment recreating this expressivity in this recording of the first movement.
Mahler's 150th birthday was celebrated on 7.July 2010. For that occasion I prepared a complete rendition of his first symphony. This also includes the abandoned and rarely performed former 2nd movement "Blumine", which was rediscovered in 1966. The recording on this album keeps the conventional sequence of the movements, in which "Blumine" is placed outside of the symphony as a kind of encore.
The album concludes with my arrangement of the Christmas carol "Silent Night". I created this special 2010 rendition in the spirit of Mahler's musical sound universe.
