The Wanted is an acoustic band that fuses early North American folk music with rockabilly and rock ‘n roll in a distinctive re-interpretation of roots music: The Carter Family meets Chuck Berry! The Wanted have performed all over southern Ontario, playing extended Toronto residencies at The Gladstone, The Cameron House and The Tranzac; headlining iconic Toronto roots clubs such as Hugh’s Room, The Dakota, and The Painted Lady; performing at a wide range of festivals and fairs, including the Eaglewood Folk Festival, the Ecology Festival, and the Port Perry Fair; and are regulars at Winterfolk and Harbord Village Festivals.
WWW.AltCountryForum.nl describes the band’s CD as: “A fine work full of contagious, hip swaying, raucous music…Simply irresistible!” Tracks from the CD have aired on CBC Radio 1 and many other Canadian roots music programs. The Wanted are Natalie Rogers on vocals and guitar; Jeff Rogers on vocals, guitar, harmonica and mandolin; Richard Henderson on vocals and lap steel guitar; Dave Lang on upright bass; and Richard Stern on percussion. (On this self-titled CD, Sandy Bell joins, with our thanks, for occasional lead and background vocals and percussion.) With tasty originals and brilliant covers of songs such as Bill Monroe’s Walls of Time and Nancy Sinatra’s These Boots Are Made For Walkin’, the group combines intricate harmonies and traditional instrumentation with unique elements such as washboard, cajon and acoustic lap steel guitar to create an eclectic musical style that is at once distinctive and recognizable.
