ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
WATCH CITY is the lyrical combination of the two provocative rhyme slingers renowned as Man O' War and Money Mike. Influenced by the mid 90's hip-hop legends the Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, Big Pun, Cormega, Kool G Rap, Rakim, AZ, and Mobb Deep, Watch City intends to extend the "golden era" of hip-hop through their timeless flows.

Rhyming congruently on tracks with seamless fluidity, Man O' War and Money Mike crafted their debut LP, "The Rhyme Monopoly", released in 2005 boasting 20 tracks with 74 intricate minutes of hip-hop. Their lyrical cynicism, overlaying theatrical orchestral production, creates a unique sound contrary to the tedious, commercial formula of modern hip-hop. Man O' War and Money Mike push the envelope of social and religious norms by constantly questioning societal standards. The Rhyme Monopoly showcases a variety of rhyming talents, from battle rap to story telling or social commentary to humor.

Man O' War and Money Mike embrace their independence as artists and are currently producing a new full length LP, "The Last Rhyme Slingers", and a new mix tape containing all new, never released music. Watch City will continue to separate from the rest of the industry by creating hip-hop that incites thought on an intellectual level.

WATCH CITY: Innovatively rugged hip-hop breaking the commercial monotony.

Amazing lyrics good beats good fucking CD

Matt Ryan

The best underground debut since 36 Chambers, period
Not that my opinion should matter, and the fact that I've been into hiphop since lyrics were more important then beats should matter either, but I've heard and listened to almost anything good or popular for the last couple decades. From that "Ohhh shit Rakim can flow man!" to this "ohhh shit that dude is wearin a hell of alot of diamonds son!", I can recognize talent when i hear it. I've sorted it out and put credit where credit is due and aside from all that other dime a dozen rap career attempts, the "credit is due" side is runnin low on talent. Watch City opened my ears again to the art form of MCing. Because of them, I'm willing to give people chances to express why I should give their shit a chance to be heard again because who knows when we will stumble upon another group as fresh as Watch city. I'm very excited again now that I can listen to something not just to bob my head but think and analyze about what I just heard, not to mention bob my head! The production is off the hook as well. Props to Watch City on this one for once again putting time into something you love and not just looking at it as a blueprint to making money, although this is a pretty damn good blueprint to make yourself some money. I hope this album effects you the way it effected me. I'm very happy with how this project turned out. Classic. 5 stars.
