ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The West Coast Rhythm Kings are a 7-piece music and dance review. With 3 vocalists, 5 songwriters and a tap dancer, they showcase a variety of musical influences in their original-n-classic repertoire of blues, jump, jazz, latin, swing and rhythm-n-blues. It's all about great music and a real good time!

It’s a Feast. Promoting their sophomore CD release, "Coppin’ in the Open", these seven men bring their musical main course to the table! Get ready for the honkin’ and screamin’ sounds of the Kings! No two songs a like! Fattened and dressed with plenty of good stomp-swing-shuffle, a little stroll, a pinch of rockin' boogie, spiced liberally with hot piano or a little Hammond, stuffed with warm, hollow-bodied blues guitar, basted with double-bass rhythm, red hot reeds and a drummer who can barely sit down and bam!…there's no room for dessert!

The recording: 7 guys, 2 cold December days, a big ole pizza, and the motto: "two takes and out!" You'll hear it all on this one, hand-clappin', cheerin' each other on, shouts of delight, a tight studio session and great live ole time!

Check it out for yourself! Original numbers with a nod to the classics, harmony vocals, a dynamite reed section, and a whole lotta rock-swingin', jump-stomping, finger-snappin' music from an eclectic set of West Coast musicians.

Welcome to the Dance! Portland’s Crystal Ballroom has described the Kings as “…the band to catch right now. Their CD exhibits great musicianship and danceable grooves…their stage presence is superb…meet a new dance band that has the zeal to entertain, the grooves to make you boogie, and the chops to back up all the attention they’ve been getting.” Get your dancin’ shoes, this stuff is proven tonic for physical fitness freaks and fans of East Coast and West Coast Swing, Balboa, Shag, Lindy Hop, 6 Count or 8 count, and YouShakeItYouNameItBootyBumpin’.

Did you say Entertainment? This recording is a live one indeed. Convinced that many audiences have been neglected since the stageshows of vaudeville and the “triple-threat” entertainer, The Rhythm Kings love to perform and always come to have fun! Listen up, get outa your chair, dig out your dancin’ shoes, crack open this CD and turn it up! It's time let your big hair down!
