Album Notes
Two years after the release of The Wastelands, the industrial rock juggernaut of White Shadow returns with a brand new single, showcasing two brand new songs guaranteed to assault your ear drums and punish your senses! "Zugzwang" hits you hard and fast with a bludgeoning display of industrialized metal riffs, pulverizing drums, and scathing lyrics guaranteed to get audiences shouting and boots stomping. Similarly, exclusive track "No Mercy" creates a vicious and despairing atmosphere too harrowing and desperate to ignore.
The six-track single also includes remixes from DC electro act Retrogramme, transforming "Zugzwang" into a pulsating display of danceable beats and penetrating bass grooves; the DJGX indubstrial mix, full of squelching synths and glitch-laden percussive mania; the Penkiller mix with its gabber-influenced intensity; and the exclusive re-version of "Beyond Flesh and Blood."

The Zugzwang single marks the arrival of new band member Kryptych on programming and guitars, following the departure of backup vocalist and live percussionist Sinnocent in 2010. Featuring artwork by Andi Cordero, Zugzwang is an aggressive and virulent helping of industrial rock, a shot of adrenaline straight from the Baltimore music underground, and hinting at even greater things to come from the band's upcoming fourth album in 2013, Panopticon.
