ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Wow & Flutter sound roughly like a Midwest indie take on the Cure's grey period. Over five full-lengths, W&F have perfected a sort of languid angst that's not altogether dissimilar to late-period Unwound."

CHINASKI

The Floydian Cure to Post Rock
Portland's Wow & Flutter have been making thier moody music for years now - but Names is arguably their best work to date. Opening with the beautifully captured percussion of "Amber" - they evoke the bare Floydian essence of the post-rock landscape. The slow simmer of "Megan" has the group using heavy delay over clean guitar tones creating an otherworldly effect reminiscent of The Cure's heyday. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

CD Baby

Appropriately named, Wow & Flutter squeezes every last drop out of its own subtlety and nuance, capturing a raw and almost beautifully coarse texture that reaches deep into harmony and rhythm but intentionally leaves deep canyons unfilled, giving their songs a haunting emptiness while still being luscious and decadent. Sometimes brooding, other times painfully nostalgic and always mind-bending and cathartic, this eight-track disc spills over with color and creativity, casting mesmerizing landscapes of post rock heaven. Just say "ahhhh....."
