Album Notes
"I sing songs that make you laugh out loud/Or bring tears to your eyes/Songs that will make you mad or glad/Or make you wonder why/Some people can relate to them/Others ain't got a clue/If you're looking for the hidden meaning/You're gonna find the Joke's On You-These are the words of singer/songwriter Wyler Delray, a self-taught tunesmith that has always had a way with words.
Born and raised in the river valley town of Peoria, Illinois, Wyler Delray has deep blue-collar roots and small-town ethics., that is reflected in his rough, unpolished voice and hard-hitting lyrics. Delray's melodies are diverse ranging from hard traditional country music to heavier rock beats. His album is simple, powerful, and unforgettable, unlike most of the me-too-all -sound-alike artists that flood the airwaves. Nobody will mistake Wyler Delray's music for the slick-produced products being pumped out of Nashville. He also co-produced his album and did most of the music arrangements.
Self-Made Fool is the debut album by Wyler Delray on Ho-Made Records. Delray has an uncanny ability to take everyday events and set them to music in a way like nobody else can. Self-Made Fool is a collection of original songs performed by Delray. The album reflects on a variety of subject matters. Wyler Delray may be the first modern artist that often refers to Facebook, You Tube, cell phones and anything else that is associated with present timelines.
Delray grew up on traditional country music and has sucessfully fused it with rock and folk-rock overtones, giving a familiar sound with suprising contrasts.
Two traits you will spot on Wyler Delray's albums is his one track containing a guitar/vocal performance and his "hidden track" or the mysterious track #13, that contains a song that is never of the politically correct nature. "She's A Lesbo" is the notorious off-colored track that will make fans and some enemies, but either way, will get more than it's share of attention.
If you like the music of Steve Earle, John Prine, or Hank Williams, Jr. then you need to check out Wyler Delray's latest album, Self-Made Fool" on Ho-Made Records.
