Dream of the Shadow Puppet

by Xybor & the Cosmonauts

Dream of the Shadow Puppet is a dreamy psychedelic trip, reminiscent of Beatles Day in A Life, but edgier, ala Pink Floyd or Bowie. It tells the story of shadow people in a shadow world, and their occassional escape at the moment of quicksilver light.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
"Dream of the Shadow Puppet" is a phantasmagoric story of shadow people in a shadow world, and their occasional escape into a world of quicksilver light -- the moment between twilight and night. The story is told by a stage actor, who years ago was whisked into the quicksilver light by a fairy queen. The audience knows the story by heart and yet want to hear it over and over, longing to see the light themselves. It strikes me as being very sad ... but hopeful.

Musically, it derives from psychedelic and progressive rock -- Beatles, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Bowie. I used a colorful palette of music and sound to create the right feel. The bridge in particular has a neat transition, coincident with the actor's temporary escape into the light.

The song itself is a somewhat theatrical presentation, as is much of my music. It follows a story line, rather than the typical verse-chorus-bridge structure which defines most popular music.

I hope you enjoy Dream of the Shadow Puppet, and take some of my other music in as well.
