Her name is Yavante’ and at 15 her brand of R&B/Pop is both refreshing and familiar. She bears no gimmick or novelty, but instead an old school melodic voice fit perfectly for groove, feel -good music.
Heavily influenced by Gospel greats Mary Mary, Kim Burrell, and Yolanda Adams as well as R&B vocal icons Beyonce, Mary J. and John Legend, Yavante’ comes from good stock. Already at such a young age she is dedicated to her craft, foregoing traditional school for home school to study music, perform and indulge a second love, fashion design.
In addition to carving time for the typical teenage customs of shopping and hanging out with friends, Yavante’ thoroughly enjoys her family, with whom she collaborates musically and shares a business. Yavante’ knows she is blessed to have her siblings and parents, lovingly married twenty years. She understands this foundation contributes to her self-esteem and Yavante’ actively supports the development of other young girls through a non- profit organization she founded called Iconically Created. She believes, “We all have unique gifts and talents that God gave us to use. I would like young ladies to see me as a driven young lady with goals, determination, faith, confidence, character and intelligence.” Yavante’ encourages young ladies to dream big and be their original selves and not “cheap copies of other people.”
As an artist, Yavante’ is a complete package; she is beautiful, vocally gifted and with an eye for fashion. Clearly she is not one-dimensional but charismatic with a solid head on her shoulders. The goal is to positively impact the world, leaving it better than she found it and there is no doubt Yavante’ will do just that.
