Album Notes
'of grit and grace' was recorded at the foxhole in chicago, il and is the debut full-length album from youth in a roman field. performers on the album include claire wellin (writer, vocals, violin, guitar) patrick wellin (guitar on 'if we go' and 'a bigger one') tiffany topol (uke, vocals) scott stangland (accordion, trumpet, bells, vocals) and tim frank (featured vocal on 'if only for awhile'). the album was engineered and mixed by tim frank of the foxhole and mastered by rob ruccia at uptown recording in chicago. it was produced by claire wellin and tim frank and was largely funded by a kickstarter campaign that was launched shortly after the band's three perpetual members- claire, tiffany, and scott- met in the summer of 2012. kelsey henderson, a printmaker and painter from minneapolis, mn designed the album art as per the ladies' longtime interest in collaborating on a project. the album itself was put together by justin kristal and the wonderful team at copycats media in minneapolis.
