ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Steven Zelin really shows his CPA side on his third full CD, with songs related to taxes, accounting, and finance. You will recognize many of these songs, which are hilarious parodies of popular tunes.

For the past 4 years, Steven Zelin has entertained New Yorkers who mail their tax returns at the last minute at the main James A. Farley Post Office. This year, you can come down to the post office at midnight on April 15th, 2008, to hear him live - but why wait? Buy Steven's CD now! (It may be tax-deductible!)

Steven has appeared on the Joey Reynolds Show (WOR) on tax day and is regularly seen in the New York Daily News. He has also been featured in “The Trusted Professional,” the NYSSCPA publication, was the featured entertainer at the annual New York CPA Conference, and was profiled in the February 2007 issue of CFO magazine. Steven’s "tax rap" for TurboTax and his Birthday video tribute to Sarbanes Oxley also appeared on YouTube in 2007.

About Steven

Steven Zelin, the Singing CPA, grew up in Brooklyn, NY, and he started singing and counting right away. Exposed to a wide variety of music at sleep away camp at age 12; he was most inspired by the campfire sing-alongs, which included folksy tunes that Steven still enjoys singing today. (Blowing in the Wind, Imagine).

At age 17, He was blown away by "Silent Lucidity" (by Queensryche) and traded in his violin for a guitar. He played rhythm guitar in high school and then started writing his own songs in College – where the link between math and music seemed to play out for real in Steven's life. As he studied accounting at Alfred University he was also playing and studying music, and by the time he landed his first job at PricewaterhouseCoopers, he was playing his first “performance” gig at the Orange Bear in downtown New York City.

Later, when he became a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) it became only natural to let his vocation complement his songwriting and performances in all other venues. Steven enjoys working with other talented artists and songwriters and regularly co-writes with Judy Klass, Steven Allard, and Mark Donohoe. He also records songs with Fred Bogert, a twice nominated GRAMMY producer.

You may have actually witnessed him yourself around New York City as he performed witty and quirky music on radio, in cabaret bars, comedy clubs, coffee houses, private parties, and corporate events all around the city. He has also been spotted in the occasional show in a post office, airport, library, school, and at such far flung places as the Great Wall of China!

Steven chooses places where the understated tone of his work can create an immediate bond with fans and supporters, since these settings allow moments that reflect the ironies of contemporary life. His songs are deceptively simple, but as they unfold, a comic underbelly emerges. His musical style uniquely captures many amusing cross-currents facing today’s young, smart city dweller.

Businesspeople can also relate to his tongue-in-cheek songs about taxes and Corporate America.

Steven is available to perform at corporate parties and events!

Gift Idea
We gave our CPA son this CD for his birthday.
One of the few gifts he has truly enjoyed.
And a lot cheaper than a new Mercedes.

Great for Tax/Accounting Professionals!
I am a tax and business professor and I loved this album. I use humor in my classroom and have already played one of his songs for my class.
