ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Voted the Best Solo Guitarist in New York's Capital Region. Maria Zemantauski has been described as "World class, a real player...a musician with astounding, breathtaking technique...and not at the expense of soul." (Metroland)

Her debut cd, Mrs. Laughinghouse has won her national acclaim as one of the few touring female flamenco-style guitarists in the world.

As one reviewer wrote, "Too often flamenco-style guitarists get caught in the speed-equals-passion trap, but not Maria Zemantauski. She shows an admirable restraint in her performance style, allowing the melody and emotion to be in the forefront without burying everything in a flurry of notes." (Dirty Linen)

Zemantauski composed eight of the eleven tracks on Mrs. Laughinghouse. Her writing is inspired primarily by the passionate and percussive sounds of flamenco, but the fine nuances of her classical guitar roots are not far from the surface.

The rich, meaty sound of Mrs. Laughinghouse is a joy to listen to just a wooden guitar, six strings and an incredible guitarist!

Ole! Maria, you're a breath of fresh air to an old school.
This is music for a crying jag. Passionate, emotive, spirited and technically precise guitar work. El duende, the deep soul of flamenco, animates this album. Heart-centered, fiery original compositions-- highly recommended!

Have you listened to Maria Zemantauski's CD, "Mrs. Laughinghouse? She plays so well, so marvelously well, that I was completely ashamed of myself as a guitarist. I felt that I was simply a carpenter with notes, picking up whatever was furnished on the job and some times making an okay dog house. But this woman can play rings around most of us who consider ourselves guitarists. I wish you would get it and listen because it is really a wonderful album.

I love this disc!
I listen to this disc over and over, and have turned many friends on to it and to her first CD, Mrs. Laughinghouse also. Maria is in a league of her own and gives an incredible performance, too...run, don't walk to see her if you get the chance.

Great CD. Seeing RED is better, but a great CD.
Mrs. Laughinghouse is a great CD. We met Maria in Albany,NY summer of 2002. At JUSTIN'S a bar/jazz/restaurant in the historic district of Albany. Her music is transcendental. She is WONDERFUL at Flamenco Guitar. Can't wait for the next CD to come out! DON'T MISS "SEEING RED".....her 2nd CD....Maria is at Justin's each SUNDAY for Brunch....Enjoy...John Wise and Richard Orrison, Washington, DC

Mrs. Laughinghouse:
Mrs. Laughinhhouse is a great mix of classical and flamenco guitar music. To really appreciate the finer aspects of guitar solo performances, Mrs. Laughinghouse is the ticket. Maria adds her own pieces along with great works from Albeniz and others to bring an album together that will be around for quite awhile. Listen and enjoy!
