Driving grooves, sophisticated improvisations, also some times in between, a hearty rock riff sound and flashes of the Balkans - like a thread crossing the pre-pasted borders of genre is typical for the "ZoZo" sound.

ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
The Music.
The house of jazz has many rooms. The band ZoZo resides in one of them since 2010. The objective that the four band members follow is an unexpected and amazing fusion of Western and Eastern sounds, beats and grooves. With the current production "SQUARED" the band opts for an approach that is firmly rooted in jazz. At the same time the compositions of the two guitarists, Stefan Varga and Tibor Eichinger, touch different musical regions.

On this trip, the unmistakable musical compass has oriented influences from jazz, rock, classical and ethnic elements. Driving grooves, sophisticated improvisations, also some times in between, a hearty rock riff sound and flashes of the Balkans - like a thread crossing the pre-pasted borders of genre is typical for the "ZoZo" sound. With gigs all over Europe, proves how well the formation of this alternative concept to conventional jazz categories functions.

The Stations.
The German-Hungarian guitar duet (Tibor Eichinger / Stefan Varga) "West and East, is the core and the origin of the band "ZoZo" that was founded in 2005. The same named CD production has caught the attention of international jazz scene. The repertoire, consisting of own composition, is a combination of jazz, avant-garde and traditional folk music from the Balkans. In 2010, the duo expanded to the quartet ZoZo. The newly formed band follows this musical combination rigorously.

The duo "West and East" has already attended numerous appearances at international festivals (MOL Jazz Festival Budapest 2008 / Valley of the Arts, Kapolcs) and radio recordings (Jazz at the Marble Hall, Hungarian Radio, Hessischer Rundfunk JAZZ NOW, etc.), which received enthusiastic reviews. 2009 appeared in "Balkan ska", an acclaimed live recording of the Budapest Jazz Festival.
