ABOUT THIS ALBUM

Album Notes
Zuby is an anomaly in hip hop. As proficient on stage as he is the classroom, the 21 year old Oxford University graduate certainly does not fit into the ‘generic rapper’ category.

Zuby’s razor-sharp lyricism, thought-provoking commentary and impeccable cadence on the microphone quickly cast aside any doubts about his ability. With musical influences ranging from Jay-Z and LL Cool J, to Gangstarr and Talib Kweli, Zuby has the rare ability to craft catchy and memorable songs without sacrificing lyrical depth.

Born in England, Zuby grew up in Saudi Arabia where he attended an American school. He developed his enthusiasm for hip hop during his secondary school years in the UK before attending Oxford University, where he began writing and recording his raps as a hobby. Since then, he has astounded live crowds across England and Saudi Arabia and received radio and club airplay in the UK, Nigeria and Germany, building up an international fan base in the process..

In June 2006, whilst still in full-time education, Zuby independently released his first EP, aptly titled ‘Commercial Underground’. Armed with nothing more than a backpack full of CDs, an mp3 player and plenty of charm, he has personally sold over 2,000 copies on the streets of Oxford and London. In a relatively short time, Zuby made a profound impact on Oxford with his exciting live performances, amusing online videos and his infamous ‘I’m Down With Zuby…Are You?’ T-shirts. His sizeable following and penchant for self-promotion led to Zuby being ranked as the #1 musician in the Oxford Student newspaper’s ‘Top 50 Most Influential People in Oxford’.

Zuby’s first music video for fan favourite ‘Steppin 2 Me’ is currently airing on Channel U. Amidst gigging and endless promotion of his first EP, Zuby is also working on a new album entitled ‘The Unknown Celebrity’, which he plans to release on his own record label ‘C.O.M. Entertainment’ (Courtesy of Myself). He is confident that this release will show his evolution from a great rapper into an incredible artist. “My supporters loved ‘Commercial Underground’ but it’s not a fair representation of my current skill level. I’ve grown a lot as an artist and people will realise that when they hear my new album.”

With talent in abundance, an unparalleled work ethic and a steadily growing fan base, Zuby is a potential star of the future. To quote UKHH.com, “We could be looking at something big in the making.”
